No More Than Two Cars for Expats

A Kuwait Parlement representative Abdullah Al-Turaiji submitted a proposal to reduce the number of cars expatriates are allowed to own. The representative would like to limit the vehicles every expatriate is allowed to own to two.

The deputy justified the request:

  • The large number of dilapidated cars that use the road are owned by expats
  • These vehicles are limiting the parking spots that are available to Kuwaiti citizens to use by shopping malls
  • Some of the expatriates use these cars for trade, to buy and sell and make money
  • The representative suggested imposing fines on those who own more than two cars
