According to the Alanaba Newspaper, A Filipina expat hanged herself inside her sponsor’s house using her clothes.
According to the source, the police received a phone call from the victim sponsor, a Kuwaiti national born in 1992, in which he said that his maid committed suicide.
The police found the domestic worker, who was born in 1994, hanging in her bathroom.
Her sponsor confirmed that the expatriate did not suffer from any significant problems, nor did she request to travel to her home.
An opinion: The Arabic newspaper (Alanba) titled the sad incident as: “Filipina joins the lists of suicides.” is concerning. Also, every time we hear an expat committed suicide, we hear the same repeated legal statement, “the expatriate did not suffer from any significant problems, nor did she/he requested to travel to his/her home country.” is shocking.
Domestic workers need help not just in Kuwait but in all the Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. Their rates need to be skyrocketing, so when someone thinks of abusing them, they think twice.
